Finished Mouse Sculpture

My mouse, as he looks after being fired. I love the natural color of the clay so I won't put a glaze on him. The cat however, looks a bit sickly right now and needs more glaze. 

 

Here is also a tile that I painted. The colors don't look as vivid as you're painting, and I wanted to give up on it. Bu it came out so much cleaner and brighter after firing that I want to try another one now. I was pleasantly surprised. I just wish I had better handwriting. 

 

Decorating an Apron

I bought this plain white apron a few months ago with the intention of embroidering things on it. I finally got around to playing with it yesterday. I had such a good time, I went out to buy more aprons, but the store didn't carry the same kind anymore and I didn't like the new ones. There's a lesson learned. When you see it, buy it! Here's a photo and you'll find it in my etsy shop now.

Embroidery Combined With Felt

I drew this Queen of Hearts on a piece of yellow cotton fabric with the intention of practicing my embroidery and learning new stitches. It was sitting around for almost a year and I finally picked it up a couple of days ago. The background is so yellow, I added felt pieces to a couple of the larger areas on the dress to balance it out. My stitching will probably never be perfect because I tend to sort of draw freehand with the needle and thread instead of planning out the design in advance. Ahh, if I could only learn to have more patience!

Another Cat and Bird

Here is smaller piece of felt art I just finished, about 8 1/2 x 6 3/4 inches. I had fun with this one! It was in my etsy shop but I took it out and now it's going to my mother!

Here is my latest piece of felt art based on a small painting I did in college. There was something about the image that I always liked, so after finding it in the attic and dusting it off I decided to do it over in felt this time. It is presently for sale in my etsy shop.

Some New Critters

I didn't want to post any new critters in my etsy shop until the craft sale at work was over. Now, little by little I will be adding these to my shop. I did get a request for a squirrel and he is in the works right now. I also sold Pirate the glove dog, a mouse and a few caterpillar pins. It was a lot of fun! Here are some of the critters in my shop at the moment:

MEOOOW says the New Kitty

OK, so this one was actually half done when I put it aside about a month ago. I finally got around to finishing him today! As soon as I stitched in his mouth he said, MEOOOW! I'll translate. It means, "About time!!"

Baby Blanket Completed—Finally!

I have been working on this baby blanket for my hair stylist for ages. She is probably having her baby as I type this post. It is a crocheted blanket and I got through making the bulk of it alright but when it came to adding the edging I froze up. I was clueless as I've never added an edging on anything before. Thanks to my friend Marci who is a whiz at all things crochet it is now complete. Marci weaved in all the loose ends for me and crocheted the entire edge in one night! Last night I added the ribbon and now it's ready to be shipped. I was very happy with the yarn—organic cotton, very soft and a pleasure to work with. I have one skein left to make a little toy perhaps.
